First Post!

Oak Hill Studio is the all inclusive name for all of our creations.

My husband creates some wonderful wood items in his spare time. Right now my special order list for him exceeds his free time!

I like to putter in a variety of things, so you might call me a "mixed media artist"!

I currently used a computer controlled kiln to fire my pottery and melt my glass. My pottery includes earthenware African violet pots, earthenware and stoneware tiles and pieces that are wheel thrown. My glass creations varies from little fused pendants and slumped bottles to large stained glass hangings.

When I sit down in the sewing studio, I use a combination of machines. A Brother 4000D stitches the embroidery, plus I have a 5 thread serger and another electronic sewing machine that will quilt and do a variety of heirloom stitches.

My husband and I are both big fans of the Arts and Crafts movement. Probably the most important element to these pieces is the quality and workmanship. Like the Arts and Crafts movement, we take pride in our creations and strive to make things that are more than "disposable decor".

Please enjoy this blog. I plan on it including pictures of creations as well as mistakes! Maybe a few instructions from time to time as I have quite a collection of vintage patterns. We welcome questions, comments and new friends!
